Juvenile facial coloring less prominent. Unmistakable in Asia. In Australia, take care to identify from Brolga, which has black legs and gray upper neck.
Behavior
Typically wades in shallow wetlands or in cropped agricultural areas. Listen for its loud, far-carrying bugling calls.
